What do these details mean?
- Act by
- File informal objections with the FCC before this date!
Current FCC policy is to wait 60 days after public notice in the Federal Register
before acting on an FM change in community of license. If your objection arrives after
this date, it could be too late.
- Open
- Federal Register notice has not yet been published but you can still file objections now!
- Granted, Denied
- The FCC has already acted on the request.
- n/a
- We have not yet obtained this information.
- Station
- Call letters of an FM station whose licensee has applied to change its
community of license.
- NEW
- An unbuilt Construction Permit whose licensee has asked the FCC to change it to a different community.
- Freq
- Current and requested frequency of the FM station. Remains unchanged in many move-ins.
- Leaving
- Current community of license.
- Moving to
- Requested community of license.
- Near
- Nearest larger city. Most move-ins claim to serve a small suburban
community but are intended to cover a larger metro market. This city
(or part of its urban area) may be the move-in's target market.
- None
- Coverage requested does not appear to reach any larger urban area.
- n/a
- Our move-in analysis is incomplete.
- Miles
- Distance between current transmitter site and the requested site.
- Zero
- The requested change does not move the station's transmitter. Two common cases:
- Just a paperwork change that officially "backfills" another station's move-out of the same community. This theoretically provides continuous licensed service to the community. However, a move-out/backfill combination typically yields a net loss of radio reception service in the backfilled community.
- The first step in a multi-step move. Multiple steps may be necessary to allow other stations to move first, clearing space on the FM band for this station's next move.
