Save America's Local FM Radio Stations!
HomeSince an FCC rule change in 1989, hundreds of hometown FM stations have been bought by big chain broadcasters, who then moved them into larger urban markets. The rules changed again in January, 2007 to streamline this "FM move-in" process. Now station owners can uproot and relocate FM stations in only a few months. Thanks to these changes, many more local FM stations will disappear, then pop up in an urban area miles away, rebranded as the newest outlet of a corporate radio "cluster."
We'll show you:
- How FM move-ins harm communities by taking their FM radio stations away.
- What happens at a move-in's new urban home when it goes on the air.
- Why Federal rules to foster local radio can rob small towns of their FM stations.
... and most importantly:
- What you can do to stop it!

Site Under Construction
Submitted by Webmaster on Sun, 02/25/2007 - 3:45pm. HomeSaveLocalFM.org lacks more than half of its planned content, but there's already some useful information here. The sudden surge in FM move-is requires urgent citizen action, so we're putting the site on-line while it's still its dressing gown.
Please come back in a week or two, when we should be properly dressed for company. We'll soon have all the information you need to help keep your favorite local FM service on the air.
